Direct to card printers (DCP) are great, they are quick and inexpensive. However the only protection the printed area has is from the thin topcoat panel in the ribbon - YMCKT. To protect cards against fading due to UV or normal day to day abrasion, you might consider adding the CLM laminator to your system. Use a holographic overlay or patch to help against counterfeiting. Look at the tactile impression module which incorporates a raised embossed area onto the card.
